full membership in the international network e-infrastructure, the organization, continuous participation in projects running under the auspices of the organization and their consortia and relevant programme management and planning bodies, contractual relations in the implementation of projects (from TEN-34 to GN4-3 projects)

(e-Infrastructures Reflection Group): participation in the work of the working group on the digital subset of European research infrastructures, contribute with expertise and opinion

(Internet Society): full membership and participation in a extensive range of Internet-related activities, including the ISOC AC (Advisory Council) and the ISOC-ECC (ISOC European Coordinating Council)

(Réseaux IP Européenne – Networking Coordination Center): full membership and participation in work under the European Regional Internet Registry, mainly related to address and name

(Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe): full membership, in the framework of which Hungarian research can access leading European technologies in the field of HPC and participate in professional collaborations, which are fundamentally necessary to maintain and improve the quality of domestic HPC services.

Under the EuroHPC program, co-funded by the EU and Italy, one of the world’s most powerful supercomputers will be built in Bologna by 2021. Leonardo will be one of 3 pre-exa performance supercomputers in Europe. This capacity will also be available to Hungarian users through KIFÜ membership.

EOSC-Future is a project aiming at converging the various initiatives and projects in the development of EOSC that were established during few years. In essence – the project aims to demonstrate at the end of the project an operational EOSC Platform (‘System of Systems’) with an integrated execution environment consisting of data, professionally provided services, and open research products and infrastructure that will be accessed and used by the European researchers who will be engaged, facilitated, trained and supported to utilize the EOSC resources and solutions. The project will result in the further development of EOSC into several distinctive components: EOSC Core and EOSC Exchange as a technological backbone of EOSC Portal, as well as EOSC Interoperability framework which will serve as a major glue allowing the Open Science to be federated among the partners of the consortium. The project structure consists of the Technical part and Science Engagement part, and KIFÜ is involved in both parts as a linked 3rd party behind GEANT. On the Technology part, KIFÜ work is concentrated on the design of the user workflow of the EOSC portal. In the Science Engagement part, KIFÜ will participate with the national and regional open science engagement.
EOSC-Future consortium spans the entire landscape of pan-European scientific and technology development initiatives. The consortium is comprised of 36 partners, who can be roughly divided into several groups: technological partners, including GRNET, PSNC, CYFRONET, and several institutes as well as several commercial partners, European e-infrastructures including GEANT, EGI, OpenAire, and others. The significant group of partners represents the scientific clusters and big pan-European projects dedicated to the particular research fields: CESSDA, CLARIN, EMBL/Elixir, LIFE WATCH, and others. The consortium is more than capable of delivery of the objectives set out in the project, and the appropriate measures to ensure the directional focus are implemented in the project management. GEANT and NRENs play a significant role in this project as key partners for implementation, also contributing significantly to the technological steer of the overall project.
